Whats the best external filter for my proposed new tank

l am planning to set up a mixed community tank as a room divider, tank will

be about 41'' long, 24'' deep, and 15'' front to back.

TO calculate filter is easy = legth *breath*height in ur case

we transfer everything to metric 374.9 litre of water

now search for a pump that at least cycles the water twice that ammount

per hour i would suggest a bigger one like 1000l/h .

remember the ammount of cycles greater are better  
All pumps & filters are realatively the same .They all work on the same  
principle.its up to you to choose.!  
N.B.

I have set it up with a Fluval 305, which has mechanical (foam) chemical

(carbon) & biological compartments. There is a total of 6 compartments

which means you can also add peat if you want to lower the PH of the

water. Your fish shop can best advise which media to add depending on the  
species.  
 
It is also really easy to remove for cleaning as a special lock allows you  
to remove the pipework with no water spillages.  
 
Make sure you run it for a couple of weeks before adding the fish to the

filter that can pump about 400-600 litres an hour can not help you much on

book & start reading. if you can find yourself a good source of information  
then ask them as many questions as possible. Zoe who comes on here is a  
very good source she is like a little fountain of knowledge.
